Air Cleaner Housing: Service and Repair

AIR CLEANER ASSEMBLY REPLACEMENT

REMOVAL PROCEDURE




1. Turn OFF the ignition.
2. Remove the electrical connector (2) from the intake air temperature (IAT) sensor (1).




3. Remove the bolts from the inner fender brace and remove the brace.
4. Loosen the clamp securing the air intake duct to the air cleaner housing.
5. Carefully remove the air intake duct from the throttle body and air cleaner housing.
6. Remove the screws (2) that secure the air cleaner housing to the powertrain control module (PCM) housing.
7. Remove the air cleaner housing (1) from the PCM housing.
8. Without disconnecting the PCM connectors release the 2 tabs at the sides of the PCM and remove the PCM (4) and the harness from the PCM housing (3).




9. Carefully remove the PCM housing (1) by pulling the housing from the 2 rubber grommets in the engine compartment. Inspect the assembly for signs of damage, and replace the assembly if necessary.

INSTALLATION PROCEDURE




1. Carefully install the PCM housing by pushing the housing into the 2 rubber grommets (2) in the engine compartment.




2. Carefully install the PCM (4) and the harness into the PCM housing (3).
3. Install the air cleaner housing cover assembly (1).

NOTE: Refer to Fastener Notice in Service Precautions.

4. Install the 2 screws (2) into the 2 air cleaner housing.

Tighten
Tighten the air cleaner retaining screws to 3 N.m (27 lb in).

5. Carefully install the air intake duct to the throttle body and air cleaner housing (1).
6. Tighten the clamp securing the air intake duct to the air cleaner housing (1).
7. Position the inner fender brace and reinstall the 3 bolts.
