Evaporator Hose Assembly Replacement

TOOLS REQUIRED
J 39400-A Halogen Leak Detector

REMOVAL PROCEDURE




1. Recover the refrigerant. Refer to Refrigerant Recovery and Recharging.
2. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
3. Remove the A/C evaporator hose nut at the accumulator.
4. Remove the A/C evaporator hose from the accumulator.




5. Remove the right headlamp to access the evaporator hose nut at the condenser.
6. Remove the A/C evaporator hose nut at the condenser.
7. Remove the A/C evaporator hose from the condenser.




8. Remove the evaporator hose from the accumulator cover.




9. Remove the evaporator line nut.
10. Remove the A/C evaporator hose from the evaporator.
11. Pry up to remove the A/C line clip from the rail.
12. Route the accumulator and condenser ends of the hose assembly under the coolant overflow hose.
13. Remove the A/C evaporator hose from the vehicle.
14. Remove the sealing washer.

INSTALLATION PROCEDURE




1. Position the A/C evaporator hose in the vehicle.
2. Install the A/C evaporator hose clip into the rail.
3. Install the sealing washer.
4. Install the A/C evaporator hose to the evaporator.

NOTE: Refer to Fastener Notice in Service Precautions.

5. Install the evaporator hose nut.

Tighten
Tighten the A/C evaporator hose nut to 20 N.m (15 lb ft).




6. Install the evaporator hose to the accumulator.
7. Install the evaporator hose nut.

Tighten
Tighten the nut to 20 N.m (15 lb ft).




8. Install the A/C evaporator hose to the condenser.
9. Install the A/C evaporator hose nut.

Tighten
Tighten the connection to 20 N.m (15 lb ft).

10. Install the right headlamp.




11. Attach the evaporator hose into the accumulator cover.
12. Connect the negative battery cable.
13. Recharge the A/C system. Refer to Refrigerant Recovery and Recharging.
14. Leak test the component using the J 39400-A.
