Compressor Mounting Bracket Replacement
REMOVAL PROCEDURE1. Remove the serpentine drive belt.
2. Disconnect the electrical connector from the A/C compressor.
3. Remove the negative battery cable nut and cable from the engine block.
4. Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle.
5. Remove the A/C compressor bracket rear bolts from the compressor (3).
6. Remove the A/C compressor front bolts from the compressor.
7. Position the A/C compressor forward in order to allow access to the bracket.
8. Remove the A/C compressor bracket bolts from the bracket (2, 3).
9. Remove the A/C compressor bracket. Transfer the idler pulley from the old bracket to the new bracket.
INSTALLATION PROCEDURE
1. Install the A/C compressor bracket.
NOTE: Refer to Fastener Notice in Service Precautions.
2. Install the A/C compressor bracket bolts (1, 2, 3).
Tighten
^ Tighten the A/C compressor bracket bolt (1) to 30 N.m (22 lb ft).
^ Tighten the A/C compressor bracket bolts (2, 3) to 50 N.m (37 lb ft)
3. Install the A/C compressor to the bracket.
4. Install the A/C compressor bolts.
Tighten
Tighten the A/C compressor front bolts to 50 N.m (37 lb ft).
5. Install the A/C compressor rear bolts (2, 3).
Tighten
Tighten the A/C compressor rear bolts (2, 3) to 30 N.m (22 lb ft).
6. Lower the vehicle.
7. Install the negative battery cable and nut to the engine block.
Tighten
Tighten the negative battery cable nut to 25 N.m (18 lb ft).
8. Connect the electrical connector to the A/C compressor.
9. Install the serpentine drive belt.
