Inflatable Restraint Instrument Panel Module Replacement

REMOVAL PROCEDURE

CAUTION: Refer to SIR Inflator Module Handling And Storage Caution in Service Precautions.




1. Disable the SIR system. Refer to: Air Bag(s) Arming and Disarming.
2. Remove the instrument panel (I/P) carrier.
3. Remove the lower mounting fasteners from the inflatable restraint I/P module bracket.
4. Remove the upper mounting fasteners from the inflatable restraint I/P module bracket.
5. Remove the module bracket assembly from the I/P carrier.




6. Remove the mounting fasteners (3) from the inflatable restraint I/P module.
7. Remove the inflatable restraint I/P module (1) from the bracket (2).
8. Fully deploy the module before disposal. If the module was replaced under warranty, fully deploy and dispose of the module after the required retention period. Refer to Inflator Module Handling and Scrapping.

INSTALLATION PROCEDURE




1. Install the inflatable restraint I/P module (1) to the bracket (2).

NOTE: Refer to Fastener Notice in Service Precautions.

2. Install the mounting fasteners (3) to the inflatable restraint module.

Tighten
Tighten fasteners to 3.2 N.m (28 lb in).




3. Install the inflatable restraint module bracket assembly to the I/P carrier.
4. Install the upper mounting fasteners to the inflatable restraint module bracket.

Tighten
Tighten fasteners to 6 N.m (53 lb in).

5. Install the lower mounting fasteners to the inflatable restraint module bracket.

Tighten
Tighten fasteners to 2.8 N.m (25 lb in).

6. Install the instrument panel carrier.
7. Enable the SIR system. Refer to: Air Bag(s) Arming and Disarming.
