Glove Box Lamp Switch: Service and Repair
IP COMPARTMENT LAMP SWITCH REPLACEMENTREMOVAL PROCEDURE
1. Remove the courtesy fuse from the instrument panel (IP) electrical center.
2. Open the IP compartment door.
3. With a small flat-bladed tool pry the IP compartment lamp switch (2) from the IP carrier.
4. Unsnap the retainer (1) from the IP compartment lamp switch (2).
5. Push the IP compartment lamp switch (2) back through the opening in the IP carrier.
6. If replacing the IP compartment lamp switch (2), perform the following steps:
6.1. Cut the wires at the splice and leave room for proper connection. Refer to Splicing Copper Wire Using Splice Sleeves in Diagrams.
6.2. Remove the IP compartment switch bulb.
6.3. Remove the IP compartment lamp switch (2) from the vehicle.
INSTALLATION PROCEDURE
1. If the IP compartment lamp switch (2) was replaced perform the following steps:
1.1. Route the new IP compartment lamp switch wires through the opening in the IP carrier where the switch is mounted.
1.2. Connect the new IP compartment lamp switch wires to the existing splice. Refer to Splicing Copper Wire Using Splice Sleeves in Diagrams.
1.3. Install the bulb to the IP compartment lamp switch.
2. If the switch was not replaced pull the IP compartment lamp switch (2) back through the opening in the IP carrier.
3. Connect the retainer (1) to the IP compartment lamp switch (2).
4. Install the IP compartment lamp switch (2) through the opening in the IP carrier and press until the switch is fully seated.
5. Close the IP compartment door.
6. Install the courtesy fuse to the IP electrical center.
7. Verify the IP compartment lamp switch (2) for proper operation.
