Condition

Some owners may comment that the molding along the rear (trunk) compartment opening at the striker is loose or broken.

Cause

This condition may be caused because the tabs that the molding retainers attach to on the underside of the molding may have broken off.

Correction

Install a new molding assembly. The new molding assemblies listed below come pre-assembled with the retainers and screws already attached. It is NOT necessary to disassemble or remove the retainers from the molding for installation.

Procedure

1. Open the rear compartment (trunk) lid.

2. Remove the old molding by carefully pulling it straight up.

3. Remove any old retaining clips that may be remaining in the body sheet metal openings.

4. With the retainers attached to the underside, position the new molding assembly to the body and press down to lock the retainers in the sheet metal openings.

5. Close the rear compartment lid.
