Compartment Replacement - IP

Removal Procedure




1. For the Oldsmobile, remove the screws from under the instrument panel (IP) compartment door.




2. Open the IP compartment door.
3. Remove the IP compartment screws.




4. Pull the IP compartment rearward.
5. Disconnect the IP compartment lamp from the compartment. Feed the lamp through the opening.




6. Remove the IP compartment. Pontiac shown, Oldsmobile similar.

Installation Procedure




1. Position the IP compartment to the IP. Pontiac shown, Oldsmobile similar.




2. Route the IP compartment lamp through the opening in the IP compartment. Push the lamp into place until fully seated.

Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in Service Precautions.




3. Install the IP compartment screws.

Tighten the screws to 2 N.m (18 lb in).




4. Close the IP compartment door.
5. For the Oldsmobile only, install the screws under the IP compartment door.

Tighten the screws to 2 N.m (18 lb in).
