Center Mounted Brake Lamp: Service and Repair

HIGH MOUNTED STOP LAMP REPLACEMENT

REMOVAL PROCEDURE




1. Open the rear compartment.
2. Remove the nuts from the high mounted stop lamp.
3. Depress the retainers on each end of the high mounted stop lamp housing.
4. Remove the high mounted stop lamp from the rear compartment lid.
5. Disconnect the electrical connector from the high mounted stop lamp.




6. Remove the lens from the high mounted stop lamp housing by pushing up on the lens with your thumbs to release the retainers, if required.




7. Remove the bulb(s) from the socket(s), if required.

INSTALLATION PROCEDURE




1. Install the bulb(s) to the socket(s), if required.




2. Install the lens to the high mounted stop lamp housing by aiming the tabs on the lens to the housing and press into place until fully seated, if required.




3. Connect the electrical connector to the high mounted stop lamp.
4. Install the high mounted stop lamp to the rear compartment lid, pressing into place until the retainers hold the housing.

NOTE: Refer to Fastener Notice in Service Precautions.

IMPORTANT: Inspect the gasket to the lens for proper fit while fighting the nuts.

5. Install the nuts to the high mounted stop lamp.

Tighten
Tighten the high mounted stop lamp nuts to 2 N.m (18 lb in).

6. Close the rear compartment.
