Underhood Electrical Center or Junction Block Replacement

REMOVAL PROCEDURE




1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
2. Remove the air cleaner assembly.
3. Remove the positive battery cable lead nut from the junction block. Reposition the cable lead away from the junction block.
4. Remove the junction block cover.
5. Remove all of the fuses and the relays.




6. Reach under the front of the junction block. Press up on the relief in order to release the retainer tab.
7. While pressing up, slide the junction block forward.




8. Disengage the electrical cable retainers at the rear of the junction block.
9. Release the junction block retainer next to the electrical cables.




10. Turn the junction block upside down and open the lower cover.




11. Disconnect the instrument panel (I/P) wiring harness individual connectors from the junction block.




12. Loosen the bolts retaining the engine, the I/P, and the forward lamp wiring harness connectors to the junction block.
13. Disconnect the engine wiring harness connector from the junction block.




14. Disconnect the I/P wiring harness connector from the junction block.




15. Disconnect the forward lamp wiring harness connector from the junction block.
16. Remove the junction block.

INSTALLATION PROCEDURE




1. Connect the forward lamp wiring harness connector to the junction block.




2. Connect the I/P wiring harness connector to the junction block.




3. Connect the engine wiring harness connector to the junction block.

NOTE: Refer to Fastener Notice in Service Precautions.

4. Install the underhood junction block connector bolts.

Tighten
Tighten the bolts to 7 N.m (62 lb in).




5. Connect the I/P wiring harness individual connectors to the junction block.




6. Connect the retainers for the electrical cable at the rear of the junction block.
7. Install the junction block retainers near the electrical cables.




8. Close the lower cover of the electrical center.
9. Turn the electrical center right side up.
10. Attach the junction block retainer next to the electrical cables.
11. Connect the electrical cable retainers at the rear of the junction block.




12. Slide the junction block to the rear until the center snaps into the retainer tab.




13. Install all of the fuses and the relays.
14. Install the junction block cover.
15. Install the positive battery cable lead to the junction block stud. Install the lead nut to the positive battery cable.

Tighten
Tighten the nut to 10 N.m (89 lb in).

16. Install the air cleaner assembly.
17. Connect the negative battery cable.
