Trim Pad Replacement - Upper

REMOVAL PROCEDURE

CAUTION: Refer to Battery Disconnect Caution in Service Precautions.

1. Disconnect the battery ground negative cable.

CAUTION: Refer to SIR Caution in Service Precautions.

2. Disable the SIR system. Refer to Disabling the SIR System in Restraint Systems.
3. Remove the instrument panel (IP) insulators.
4. Remove the left and the right carpet retainers.
5. Remove the side upper garnish moldings.
6. Remove the IP upper trim panel.
7. Remove the front floor console, if equipped.
8. Remove the steering column filler.
9. Remove the knee bolster.
10. Remove the steering column.
11. Remove the IP cluster trim plate.
12. Remove the radio.
13. Remove the HVAC control module.
14. Remove the IP cluster.
15. Remove the headlamp switch.
16. Remove the HUD dimmer switch, if equipped.
17. Remove the HUD module, if equipped.
18. Remove the driver information center.
19. Remove the IP compartment.
20. Remove the IP compartment lamp.
21. Remove the IP compartment lamp switch.




22. Remove the IP trim pad bolts at the windshield.




23. Remove the mounting bolts (1) from the lower trim pad.




24. Remove the mounting bolt (1) from the IP cluster pocket.
25. Position the IP wiring harness aside.
26. Remove the IP trim pad from the vehicle.

INSTALLATION PROCEDURE




1. Install the IP trim pad to the vehicle.
2. Reposition the IP wiring harness.

NOTE: Refer to Fastener Notice in Service Precautions.

3. Install the IP upper trim pad bolts.

Tighten
Tighten the bolts to 5 N.m (44 lb in).




4. Install the IP cluster pocket bolt (1).

Tighten
Tighten the bolt to 5 N.m (44 lb in).




5. Install the IP lower bolts (1).

Tighten
Tighten the IP lower bolts to 2 N.m (18 lb in).

6. Install the IP compartment lamp switch.
7. Install the IP compartment lamp.
8. Install the IP compartment.
9. Install the driver information center.
10. Install the HUD module if equipped.
11. Install the HUD dimmer switch, if equipped.
12. Install the headlamp switch.
13. Install the IP cluster.
14. Install the HVAC control module.
15. Install the radio.
16. Install the IP cluster trim plate.
17. Install the steering column.
18. Install the knee bolster.
19. Install the steering column filler.
20. Install the front floor console, if equipped.
21. Install the IP upper trim panel.
22. Install the side upper garnish moldings.
23. Install the carpet retainers.
24. Install the IP insulators.
25. Enable the SIR system. Refer to Enabling the SIR System in Restraint Systems.
26. Connect the battery ground negative cable.
