Seat Adjuster Replacement - Front (Six-Way Power)

Removal Procedure

1. Remove the front seat from the vehicle. Refer to Seat Replacement - Front Bucket (Seat Replacement - Front Bucket) .




2. Remove the seat belt buckle nut.
Remove the seat belt from the seat.
3. Remove the J-hooks holding the seat trim cover to the seat frame.
4. Remove the front seat trim panel. Refer to Trim Panel Replacement - Front Seat (Trim Panel Replacement - Front Seat) .
5. Position the seat back all the way down.
6. Lift up on the cushion trim cover and pad to access the seat frame to adjuster bolts.




7. Remove the adjuster to seat cushion frame bolts.
8. Disconnect the electrical harness from the adjuster cross brace.
9. Disconnect the seat belt electrical harness, drivers seat only.
10. Disconnect the electrical harness from the 3 electric motors.
11. Remove the lumbar adjuster relays from the motor bracket.
12. Remove the adjuster from the seat cushion frame.
13. Remove the seat adjuster motor assembly from the seat adjuster. Refer to Seat Adjuster Motor Replacement - Front.
14. Separate the left and right adjusters by removing the crossbrace bolts and the crossbrace.



Installation Procedure





1. Attach a crossbrace to the left and the right adjusters.
2. Ensure that the tab bending downward at the center of the crossbrace faces the rear of the adjusters.

Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in Cautions and Notices.

3. Secure the crossbrace with 2 bolts.

Tighten the bolts to 6 N.m (53 lb in).

4. Install the seat adjuster motor assembly to the seat adjuster. Refer to Seat Adjuster Motor Replacement - Front.

Important: Install the right and left seat adjuster sliding mechanism in the same position that the mechanism had when you attached the adjuster-to-seat bottom frame.


Install the adjuster assembly to the floorpan attachments before you attach the adjusters to the seat. Use the floorpan as a guide during assembly in order to ensure correct adjuster alignment.


5. Install the adjuster assembly to the floorpan.
6. Install the seat adjuster to floorpan bolts.

Tighten the adjuster to floorpan bolts to 42 N.m (31 lb ft).

7. Install the seat to the adjuster assembly.




8. Install the adjuster to the seat frame bolts.

Tighten the bolts to 24 N.m (18 lb ft).

9. Position the seat back to the upright position.
10. Connect the electrical harness to the adjuster cross brace.
11. Connect the seat belt electrical harness, drivers seat only.
12. Connect the electrical harness from the 3 electric motors.
13. Install the lumbar adjuster relays to the motor bracket.
14. Remove the front seat from the vehicle. Refer to Seat Replacement - Front Bucket (Seat Replacement - Front Bucket) .
15. Install the seat cover J-retainers.




16. Install the seat belt.

Tighten the nut to 42 N.m (31 lb ft).

17. Install the front seat trim panel. Refer to Trim Panel Replacement - Front Seat (Trim Panel Replacement - Front Seat) .
18. Install the front seat in the vehicle. Refer to Seat Replacement - Front Bucket (Seat Replacement - Front Bucket) .
19. Inspect the power seat adjusters. Verify that the adjusters are parallel and in phase with each other. If one adjuster reaches its maximum horizontal or vertical travel in a given direction before the other adjuster, the adjusters are out of phase.
20. Complete the following steps if there is horizontal travel:

1. Operate the seat control switch until one adjuster reaches the full forward position.
2. Disconnect the horizontal drive cable from the adjuster that has reached the full forward position.
3. Operate the seat forward until the other adjuster reaches the full forward position.
4. Connect the horizontal drive cable.
5. Inspect the seat for correct horizontal travel.

21. Complete the following steps if there is front or rear vertical travel:

1. Operate the seat control switch until one of the adjusters has reached the full raised positions at the front and rear vertical limits.
2. Disconnect both of the vertical drive cables from the adjuster that has reached the full raised position.
3. Operate the seat control switch until the other adjuster reaches the full raised positions at the front and rear vertical limits.
4. Connect the front and rear vertical drive cables.
5. Operate the adjusters through 1 or 2 complete cycles. Inspect the seat for correct vertical travel.
6. If the adjusters are out of phase after the test cycle, repeat the above steps as needed.
