Headlamp Capsule Availability

1997-2002 Pontiac Grand Prix

This bulletin is being revised to add ADDITIONAL PART NUMBER INFORMATION. Please discard Corporate Bulletin Number 01-08-2-004 (Section 08 - Body and Accessories)

The headlamp capsule can now be purchased separately from the parking lamp and frame assembly.

If ONLY THE headlamp capsule REQUIRES replacement, USE THE PART NUMBERS LISTED IN THE "PARTS INFORMATION" SECTION OF THIS BULLETIN. DO NOT USE PART NUMBERS 16526111 OR 16526112 WHEN ONLY THE CAPSULE IS REQUIRED. USE THE FOLLOWING PROCEDURE WHEN REPLACING ONLY THE HEADLAMP CAPSULE.

Procedure

1. Open the hood and install the fender covers.

2. Remove the two 10 mm hex head bolts that attach the complete headlamp assembly to the vehicle.

3. Remove the complete headlamp assembly from the vehicle.

4. Disconnect the headlamp electrical connector from the vehicle wiring harness connector.

5. Disconnect the electrical connector from the headlamp bulb.

6. Remove the two 10 mm bolts that attach the headlamp capsule to the frame assembly.

7. Install the new headlamp capsule to the frame assembly and install the two 10 mm hex head bolts.

Tighten

Tighten to 4 N.m (35 lb in).

8. Connect the electrical connector to the headlamp bulb.

9. Connect the vehicle wiring harness connector to the headlamp electrical connector.

10. Install the headlamp assembly to the vehicle and install the two 10 mm hex head bolts.

Tighten

Tighten to 6 N.m (44 lb in).

11. Check for proper headlamp operation and aim.

12. Remove the fender covers and close the hood.
