Thermostat Bypass Pipes Replacement

^ Tools Required
- J 38185 Hose Clamp Pliers

Removal Procedure





1. Drain the cooling system.
2. Remove the air cleaner intake duct.
3. Remove the left engine mount strut.
4. Disconnect the left spark plug wires from the left spark plugs.
5. Use the J 38185 in order to reposition the hose clamp from the water outlet housing.
6. Remove the radiator inlet hose from the water outlet housing.





7. Remove the heater outlet hose (2) from the thermostat bypass pipe.
8. Remove the throttle body inlet (3) and outlet (4) hoses from the thermostat bypass pipe.





9. Remove the thermostat bypass pipe nut.





10. Use the J 38185 in order to reposition the hose clamp from the thermostat bypass pipe.
11. Remove the thermostat bypass pipe hose.





12. Remove the thermostat bypass pipe bolt.
13. Remove the thermostat bypass pipe.

Installation Procedure





1. Install the thermostat bypass pipe.

Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in Service Precautions.

2. Install the thermostat bypass pipe bolt.
^ Tighten the thermostat bypass pipe bolt to 11 Nm (98 lb in).





3. Install the thermostat bypass pipe hose.
4. Use the J 38185 in order to reposition the hose clamp to the thermostat bypass pipe.





5. install the thermostat bypass pipe nut.
^ Tighten the thermostat bypass pipe nut to 25 Nm (18 lb ft).





6. Install the heater outlet hose (2) to the thermostat bypass pipe.
7. Install the throttle body inlet (3) and outlet (4) hoses to the thermostat bypass pipe.





8. Install the radiator inlet hose to the water outlet housing.
9. Use the J 38185 in order to reposition and install the radiator inlet hose clamp to the water outlet housing.
10. Install the left spark plug wires to the left spark plugs.
11. Install the left engine mount strut.
12. Install the air cleaner intake duct.
13. Fill the cooling system.
14. Inspect for leaks.
