Inflatable Restraint Steering Wheel Module Replacement

REMOVAL PROCEDURE




1. Disable the SIR system. Refer to Air Bag(s) Arming and Disarming.
2. Rotate the steering wheel in order to access the inflator module screws.
3. Use a # 30 TORX(R) driver in order to loosen the inflator module screws.
4. Gently pull the inflator module (1) from the steering wheel.
5. Remove the connector position assurance (CPA) from the yellow SIR electrical connector.
6. Disconnect the yellow SIR electrical connector from the back of the steering wheel inflator module.
7. Rotate the horn contact lead counterclockwise 1/4 turn in order to remove the horn contact lead from the steering column cam tower.

INSTALLATION PROCEDURE




1. Connect the horn contact lead to the steering wheel cam tower.
2. Rotate the horn contact lead 1/4 turn clockwise in order to secure the horn contact lead.
3. Connect the yellow SIR electrical connector to the back of the steering wheel inflator module (1).
4. Install the CPA to the yellow SIR electrical connector.
5. Install the inflator module (1) to the steering wheel.

NOTE: Refer to Fastener Notice in Service Precautions.

6. Use a #30 TORX(R) driver in order to secure the module to the back of the steering wheel.

Tighten
Tighten the bolts to 10 N.m (89 lb in).

7. Enable the SIR system. Refer to Air Bag(s) Arming and Disarming.
