B1623

DTC B1623

CIRCUIT DESCRIPTION
These DTCs are generated by the position sensors and sensor circuits of the outside rearview mirrors. Each outside rearview mirror has a vertical position sensor attached to its vertical mirror motor, and a horizontal position sensor attached to its horizontal mirror motor. Each sensor is supplied a 5 volt reference and ground by the associated front door module. Each sensor also has a signal circuit that is supplied 5 volts by the associated front door module. Signal circuit voltages vary with the movement of the associated mirror. Based on the voltages of these signal circuits, the associated front door module determines the position of its mirror. If a mirror sensor signal voltage for the driver side mirror is out of the normal range, the driver door module (DDM) sets the appropriate DTC. If a mirror sensor signal voltage for the passenger side mirror is out of the normal range, the front passenger door module (PDM) sends a power door serial data message to the DDM and the DDM sets the appropriate DTC.

The outside rearview mirror wiring harness is part of the mirror assembly and is not serviced separately.

CONDITIONS FOR RUNNING THE DTC
The DDM and the PDM must be powered, in communications with each other and can not have B1327 or B1328 set.

CONDITIONS FOR SETTING THE DTC
These DTCs will set if:
- A mirror position sensor signal voltage is below 0.25 V for 2 seconds.
- A mirror position sensor signal voltage is above 4.75 V for 2 seconds.

ACTION TAKEN WHEN THE DTC SETS
Memory movements are disabled. Manual movements are not disabled.

CONDITIONS FOR CLEARING THE DTC
The current DTC clears when the associated door module no longer detects the sensor failure. The DTC is stored as a history DTC. The history DTC will clear either after 50 OFF/ON ignition cycles without a repeated failure or in response to a scan tool command.

DIAGNOSTIC AIDS
- Failures of the 5 volt reference circuit may or may not set one or more sensor DTCs.
- If the sensor ground circuit is open, multiple sensor DTCs may set.
- If the Personalization Option in the Dash Integration Module (DIM) is activated on a vehicle that does not have the A45 Memory Mirrors option, DTCs B1583, B1593, B1613, and B1623 will be erroneously set. If these DTCs are set on a vehicle that does not have A45.
- The outside rearview mirror wiring harness is part of the mirror assembly and is not serviced separately.

After readjusting the mirror positions, be sure to set the mirror memory switch to the new positions.
