Exhaust Pipe ReplacementRemoval Procedure
1. Raise and support the vehicle.
Notice: Refer to Catalytic Converter Movement Notice in Service Precautions.
2. Support the exhaust system.
3. Remove the catalytic converter nuts.
4. Remove the catalytic converter gasket.
5. Remove the exhaust insulator hangers from the exhaust pipe.
Important: The cut must be made approximately 38 mm (1.5 inch) from the mufflers to ensure adequate overlap for clamping.
6. Cut the exhaust pipe from the exhaust mufflers.
7. Remove the exhaust pipe from the vehicle.
Installation Procedure
Notice: To prevent internal damage to the flexible coupling of the catalytic converter assembly, the converter must be supported. The vertical movement at the rear of the catalytic converter assembly must not exceed 6 degrees up or down.
1. Position the exhaust pipe under the vehicle and support the pipe.
2. Install the exhaust insulator hangers to the exhaust pipe.
3. Install the exhaust muffler inlet pipe clamps. Do not tighten the exhaust muffler inlet pipe clamp nuts.
4. Install the exhaust pipe to the mufflers.
Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in Service Precautions.

5. Tighten the exhaust muffler inlet pipe clamp nuts.
Tighten the exhaust muffler inlet pipe clamp nuts to 50 Nm (37 ft. lbs.).
6. Install a new catalytic converter gasket.
7. Install the catalytic converter nuts.
Tighten the nuts to 60 Nm (44 ft. lbs.).
8. Remove the support from the exhaust system.
9. Inspect for exhaust system leaks and underbody contact.
10. Lower the vehicle.
