Trim Pad Replacement - Instrument Panel (I/P)

Removal Procedure

Caution: Refer to Battery Disconnect Caution in Cautions and Notices.
1. Disconnect the battery ground negative cable. Refer to Battery Negative Cable Disconnect/Connect Procedure.
Caution: Refer to SIR Caution.
2. Disable the SIR system. Refer to SIR Disabling and Enabling Zone 3 and SIR Disabling and Enabling Zone 5.
3. Remove the instrument panel (I/P) insulators. Refer to Closeout/Insulator Panel Replacement - Right (Closeout/Insulator Panel Replacement - Right) and Closeout/Insulator Panel Replacement - Left (Service and Repair) .
4. Remove the left and the right carpet retainers. Refer to Carpet Retainer Replacement - Front (Carpet Retainer Replacement - Front) in Interior Trim.
5. Remove the side upper garnish moldings. Refer to Garnish Molding Replacement - Windshield Pillar (Garnish Molding Replacement - Windshield Pillar) in Interior Trim.
6. Remove the I/P upper trim panel. Refer to Trim Panel Replacement - Instrument Panel (I/P) Upper. Instrument Panel (IP) - Trim Panel Replacement - Upper
7. Remove the front floor console, if equipped. Refer to Console Replacement - Front Floor (Console Replacement - Front Floor) .
8. Remove the steering column filler. Refer to Steering Column Filler Replacement (Steering Column Filler Replacement) .
9. Remove the knee bolster. Refer to Knee Bolster Replacement (Service and Repair) .
10. Remove the steering column. Refer to Steering Column Replacement.
11. Remove the I/P cluster trim plate. Refer to Trim Panel Replacement - Instrument Panel (I/P) Cluster (Instrument Panel Cluster (IPC) - Trim Panel Replacement) .
12. Remove the radio. Refer to Radio Replacement.
13. Remove the HVAC control module. Refer to HVAC Control Assembly Replacement.
14. Remove the I/P cluster. Refer to Instrument Panel Cluster (IPC) Replacement.
15. Remove the headlamp switch. Refer to Headlamp Switch Replacement.
16. Remove the HUD dimmer switch, if equipped. Refer to Head Up Display Switch Replacement Service and Repair.
17. Remove the HUD module, if equipped. Refer to Head Up Display Module Replacement Service and Repair.
18. Remove the driver information center. Refer to Driver Information Center Module Replacement Driver Information Center Module Replacement
19. Remove the I/P compartment. Refer to Compartment Replacement - Instrument Panel (I/P) (Instrument Panel Compartment - Replacement) .
20. Remove the I/P compartment lamp. Refer to Instrument Panel (I/P) Compartment Lamp Bulb Replacement.
21. Remove the I/P compartment lamp switch. Refer to Instrument Panel (I/P) Compartment Lamp Switch Replacement.




22. Remove the I/P trim pad bolts at the windshield.




23. Remove the mounting bolts (1) from the lower trim pad.




24. Remove the mounting bolt (1) from the I/P cluster pocket.
25. Position the I/P wiring harness aside.
26. Remove the I/P trim pad from the vehicle.



Installation Procedure





1. Install the I/P trim pad to the vehicle.
2. Reposition the I/P wiring harness.

Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in Cautions and Notices.

3. Install the I/P upper trim pad bolts.

Tighten the bolts to 5 N.m (44 lb in).





4. Install the I/P cluster pocket bolt (1).

Tighten the bolt to 5 N.m (44 lb in).





5. Install the I/P lower bolts (1).

Tighten the I/P lower bolts to 2 N.m (18 lb in).

6. Install the I/P compartment lamp switch. Refer to Instrument Panel (I/P) Compartment Lamp Switch Replacement.
7. Install the I/P compartment lamp. Refer to Instrument Panel (I/P) Compartment Lamp Bulb Replacement.
8. Install the I/P compartment. Refer to Compartment Replacement - Instrument Panel (I/P) (Instrument Panel Compartment - Replacement) .
9. Install the driver information center. Refer to Driver Information Center Module Replacement Driver Information Center Module Replacement.
10. Install the HUD module , if equipped. Refer to Head Up Display Module Replacement Service and Repair.
11. Install the HUD dimmer switch, if equipped. Refer to Head Up Display Switch Replacement Service and Repair.
12. Install the headlamp switch. Refer to Headlamp Switch Replacement.
13. Install the I/P cluster. Refer to Instrument Panel Cluster (IPC) Replacement.
14. Install the HVAC control module. Refer to HVAC Control Assembly Replacement.
15. Install the radio. Refer to Radio Replacement.
16. Install the I/P cluster trim plate. Refer to Trim Panel Replacement - Instrument Panel (I/P) Cluster (Instrument Panel Cluster (IPC) - Trim Panel Replacement) .
17. Install the steering column. Refer to Steering Column Replacement.
18. Install the knee bolster. Refer to Knee Bolster Replacement (Service and Repair) .
19. Install the steering column filler. Refer to Steering Column Filler Replacement (Steering Column Filler Replacement) .
20. Install the front floor console, if equipped. Refer to Console Replacement - Front Floor (Console Replacement - Front Floor) .
21. Install the I/P upper trim panel. Refer to Trim Panel Replacement - Instrument Panel (I/P) Upper. Instrument Panel (IP) - Trim Panel Replacement - Upper
22. Install the side upper garnish moldings. Refer to Garnish Molding Replacement - Windshield Pillar (Garnish Molding Replacement - Windshield Pillar) in Interior Trim.
23. Install the carpet retainers. Refer to Carpet Retainer Replacement - Front (Carpet Retainer Replacement - Front) in Interior Trim.
24. Install the I/P insulators. Refer to Closeout/Insulator Panel Replacement - Right (Closeout/Insulator Panel Replacement - Right) and Closeout/Insulator Panel Replacement - Left (Service and Repair) .
25. Enable the SIR system. Refer to SIR Disabling and Enabling Zone 3 and SIR Disabling and Enabling Zone 5.
26. Connect the battery ground negative cable. Refer to Battery Negative Cable Disconnect/Connect Procedure.
