Condition
Some customers may comment that the left outside mirror vibrates at highway speeds.
Cause
This condition may be caused by the insulator between the mirror and the door frame. The mirror nuts are not achieving the desired torque needed to secure the mirror to the door frame.
Correction
Important
Do not replace P/N 22679824 for this condition.
1. Remove the mirror. Refer to the Mirror Replacement Procedure in the Doors sub-section of the Service Manual (SI document #456577 for 1995-98; SI Document #631255 for 1999-2004).
2. Before reinstalling the mirror, ensure that the insulator on the back of the mirror is installed with the retaining studs in the center of the material opening and that the material does not cover the studs shoulder. If necessary, trim the material around the stud shoulder. Refer to the illustration above.
