Catalytic Converter: Service and Repair

Catalytic Converter Replacement
Removal Procedure
1. Raise the vehicle. Support the vehicle. Refer to Vehicle Lifting.
2. Remove the Heated Oxygen Sensor 2 (H02S2).





3. Remove the bolts securing the front pipe to the Three-Way Catalytic Converter (TWC).
Remove the bolt and clamp securing the Three-Way Catalytic Converter (TWC) to the muffler/tail pipe assembly.
4. Remove the hangers from the rear of the TWC (2).
5. Remove the TWC from the vehicle.
6. Clean the gasket and seal mating surfaces.

Installation Procedure

Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in Service Precautions.

1. Install the TWC to the vehicle.





2. Install the hangers to the rear of the TWC (2).
3. Install the bolts securing the Three-Way Catalytic Converter (TWC) to the front pipe.
^ Tighten the TWC to front pipe bolts to 43 Nm (32 ft. lbs.).
Install the bolt and clamp securing the Three-Way Catalytic Converter (TWC) to the muffler/tail pipe assembly.
^ Tighten the TWC to muffler/tail pipe assembly bolt to 32 Nm (24 ft. lbs.).
4. Install the Heated Oxygen Sensor 2 (H02S2).
5. Lower the vehicle.
