Trim Pad Replacement - Instrument Panel (I/P) Upper

Removal Procedure

1. Disconnect the negative battery cable. Refer to Battery Negative Cable Disconnect/Connect Procedure in Engine Electrical.
2. Disable the driver and passenger side SIR systems. Refer to SIR Disabling and Enabling Zone 3 and SIR Disabling and Enabling Zone 5 in SIR.
3. Remove the I/P center trim panel. Refer to Trim Panel Replacement - Instrument Panel (I/P) Center (Instrument Panel Cluster (IPC) - Trim Panel Replacement) .
4. Remove the radio. Refer to Radio Replacement .
5. Remove the front floor console trim plate. Refer to Trim Plate Replacement - Front Floor Console.
6. Remove the steering wheel inflatable restraint. Refer to Inflatable Restraint Steering Wheel Module Replacement .
7. Remove the steering wheel. Refer to Steering Wheel Replacement .
8. Remove the upper and lower steering column covers. Refer to Steering Column Trim Covers Replacement .
9. Remove the head lamp switch assembly. Refer to Headlamp Switch Replacement .
10. Remove the wiper switch assembly. Refer to Wipers/Washer Switch Replacement .
11. Remove the passenger side inflatable restraint. Refer to Inflatable Restraint Instrument Panel Module Replacement .
12. Remove the I/P cluster trim plate. Refer to Trim Panel Replacement - Instrument Panel (I/P) Cluster (Instrument Panel Cluster (IPC) - Trim Panel Replacement) .
13. Remove the I/P cluster assembly. Refer to Instrument Panel Cluster (IPC) Replacement.
14. Remove the windshield garnish moldings. Refer to Garnish Molding Replacement - Windshield Pillar (Garnish Molding Replacement - Windshield Pillar) .
15. Remove the left I/P accessory trim plate. Refer to Trim Plate Replacement - Instrument Panel (I/P) Accessory Left (Instrument Panel (IP) - Accessory Trim Plate Replacement - Left Side) .




16. Remove any necessary connectors.
17. Remove the screws (3) from the upper instrument panel (1).
18. Remove the upper instrument panel (1) by pulling rearward to remove from the tabs (2).



Installation Procedure





1. Install the upper instrument panel assembly (1) to the vehicle. Ensure that the retaining clips (2) are fully engaged. Secure the assembly to the lower instrument panel with the 3 screws (3).
2. Connect any necessary connectors.
3. Install the left I/P accessory trim plate. Refer to Trim Plate Replacement - Instrument Panel (I/P) Accessory Left (Instrument Panel (IP) - Accessory Trim Plate Replacement - Left Side) .
4. Install the windshield garnish moldings. Refer to Garnish Molding Replacement - Windshield Pillar (Garnish Molding Replacement - Windshield Pillar) .
5. Install the I/P cluster assembly. Refer to Instrument Panel Cluster (IPC) Replacement.
6. Install the I/P cluster trim plate. Refer to Trim Panel Replacement - Instrument Panel (I/P) Cluster (Instrument Panel Cluster (IPC) - Trim Panel Replacement) .
7. Install the passenger side inflatable restraint. Refer to Inflatable Restraint Instrument Panel Module Replacement .
8. Install the wiper switch assembly. Refer to Wipers/Washer Switch Replacement .
9. Install the head lamp switch assembly. Refer to Headlamp Switch Replacement .
10. Install the upper and lower steering column covers. Refer to Steering Column Trim Covers Replacement .
11. Install the steering wheel. Refer to Steering Wheel Replacement .
12. Install the steering wheel inflatable restraint. Refer to Inflatable Restraint Steering Wheel Module Replacement .
13. Install the front floor console trim plate. Refer to Trim Plate Replacement - Front Floor Console.
14. Install the radio. Refer to Radio Replacement .
15. Install the I/P center trim panel. Refer to Trim Panel Replacement - Instrument Panel (I/P) Center (Instrument Panel Cluster (IPC) - Trim Panel Replacement) .
16. Enable the SIR system. Refer to SIR Disabling and Enabling Zone 3 and SIR Disabling and Enabling Zone 5 .
17. Connect the negative battery cable. Refer to Battery Negative Cable Disconnect/Connect Procedure .
