54. Timing Chain Housing Installation

Timing Chain Housing Installation





1. Apply a continuous bead of GM P/N 12346240 (Canadian P/N 10953493) or an equivalent to the timing chain cover mating surface.





2. Apply GM P/N 12346240 or an equivalent to the cylinder block (1).
3. Install the timing chain cover.

Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in Service Precautions.





4. Secure the cover using the 19 bolts:
^ Tighten the timing chain cover bolts (1) to 21 Nm (15 ft. lbs.).
^ Tighten the timing chain cover bolts (2) to 11 Nm (8 ft. lbs.)
^ Tighten the timing chain cover bolts (3) to 9 Nm (80 inch lbs.).
^ Tighten the timing chain cover bolts (4) to 9 Nm (80 inch lbs.).
