Vehicle Speed Sensor (VSS) Replacement

- J 36850 Transjel Transmission Assembly Lubricant

Removal Procedure

Caution: Refer to Battery Disconnect Caution in Service Precautions.





1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
2. Disconnect the Vehicle Speed Sensor (VSS) electrical connector (1).
3. Remove the 1 retaining bolt and the VSS from the transaxle.
4. Inspect the VSS O-ring for cuts or damage. Replace as necessary.

Installation Procedure





1. Apply J 36850 to the VSS O-ring.

Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in Service Precautions.

2. Install the Vehicle Speed Sensor (VSS) into the transaxle case. Secure the VSS With the retaining bolt.
^ Tighten the VSS speed sensor (VIES) bolt to 6 Nm (53 inch lbs.).
3. Connect the VSS electrical connector (1).
4. Connect the negative battery cable.
