Stabilizer Shaft Replacement

^ Tools Required
- J 24319-B Universal Steering Linkage Puller

Removal Procedure





1. Raise and support the vehicle by the frame. Allow the control arms to hang free. Refer to Vehicle Lifting.
2. Remove the front wheels and tires.
3. Remove the exhaust manifold pipe from the exhaust manifold and from the intermediate exhaust hangers. Refer to Exhaust Manifold Pipe Replacement in Engine Exhaust.
4. Remove the left and right stabilizer link bolts.





5. Remove the left and right stabilizer shaft brackets.





6. Use the J 24319-B in order to remove the left tie rod end (1) from the steering knuckle (2).





7. Turn the right strut completely to the left. Guide the stabilizer shaft out the right side of the vehicle in an upward direction.
8. Remove the stabilizer shaft (3) from the vehicle.

Installation Procedure





1. Install the stabilizer shaft (3) into position.





2. Loosely install the following components:
2.1. The left and right stabilizer shaft insulators
2.2. The brackets
2.3. The bolts





3. Loosely install the stabilizer link components.

Notice Refer to Fastener Notice in Service Precautions.

4. Install the left tie rod end to the knuckle.
^ Tighten the bracket bolts to 47 Nm (35 ft. lbs.).
^ Tighten the stabilizer link nut to 17 Nm (13 ft. lbs.).
^ Tighten the tie rod end to knuckle nuts to 30 Nm (22 ft. lbs.) plus an additional 180 degrees.
5. Install the exhaust manifold pipe to the manifold. Refer to Exhaust Manifold Pipe Replacement in Engine Exhaust.
6. Install the front wheels and tires.
7. Lower the vehicle.
