Park Brake Light Stays On After Park Brake Is Released (Replace Rear Park Brake Cables)

Models:
2004 Cadillac DeVille
2004 Pontiac Bonneville, Bonneville GXP

Condition

Some customers may comment that after releasing the parking brake, the brake light on the instrument panel (IP) stays on.

Cause

This condition may be caused by a weak return spring located at the rear of the parking brake cables.

Correction

Replace the rear parking brake cables with new cables that have a more robust return spring. Refer to the documents below.
