Heater Pipe - Outlet

HEATER PIPE REPLACEMENT - OUTLET

TOOLS REQUIRED
- J 37097-A Heater Hose Clamp Tool
- J 38185 Hose Clamp Pliers

REMOVAL PROCEDURE
1. Drain the cooling system. Refer to Draining and Filling Cooling System (L36)Draining and Filling Cooling System (LD8) in Cooling System.
2. Remove the air filter housing assembly.
3. Using the J 38185 , remove the clamp from the heater hose at the heater outlet pipe (4).
4. Remove the heater hose from the heater outlet pipe (4).




5. Remove the nut (5) from the heater outlet pipe (4).
6. Using the J 37097-A , remove the hose clamps from the hose on the thermostat housing and the surge tank hose.
7. Remove the surge tank hose from the heater outlet pipe (4).
8. Remove the heater outlet pipe (4) from the vehicle.

INSTALLATION PROCEDURE
1. Install the adapter hose to the thermostat housing end of the heater outlet pipe (4).




2. Install the heater outlet pipe (4) to the thermostat housing and place the hold-down bracket over the stud.
3. Install the nut (5) to the stud and hand tighten.
4. Install the surge tank hose to the outlet coolant pipe (4).

NOTE: Refer to Fastener Notice in Service Precautions.

5. Install the heater pipe outlet nut (5).

Tighten
Tighten the nut (5) to 25 N.m (18 lb ft).

6. Using the J 37097-A , install the hose to the thermostat housing and the surge tank hose.
7. Install the outlet heater hose to the heater outlet pipe (4).
8. Using the J 38185 , install the clamp to the heater hose at the heater outlet pipe (4).
9. Install the air filter housing assembly.
10. Fill the cooling system. Refer to Draining and Filling Cooling System (L36)Draining and Filling Cooling System (LD8) in Cooling System.
