Receiver Dryer: Service and Repair

RECEIVER DEHYDRATOR REPLACEMENT

Tools Required
J 39400-A Halogen Leak Detector

Removal Procedure





1. Remove the 5 retainers and the upper shroud (2).
2. Recover the refrigerant.





3. Remove the A/C evaporator tube (3) from the receiver dehydrator (6).
4. Remove the A/C condenser tube (1) from the receiver dehydrator.
5. Remove and discard the 0-ring seals (2).
6. Remove the receiver dehydrator mounting bolt (4) from the bracket (5).
7. Remove the receiver dehydrator from the bracket.

Installation Procedure
1. If you are replacing the receiver dehydrator, add refrigerant oil to the receiver dehydrator.





2. Install the new 0-ring seals (2) onto the receiver dehydrator tube connections.
3. Install the receiver dehydrator (6) to the bracket (5).

NOTICE: Refer to Fastener Notice in Service Precautions.

4. Install the receiver dehydrator mounting bolt (4).

Tighten
Tighten the bolt to 11 N.m (97 Ib in).


5. Install the A/C condenser tube (1) to the receiver dehydrator.

Tighten
Tighten the nut to 11 N.m (97 Ib in).


6. Install the A/C evaporator tube (3) to the receiver dehydrator.

Tighten
Tighten the nut to 11 N.m (97 Ib in).


7. Evacuate and recharge the A/C system.
8. Leak test the fittings of the component using J 39400-A.





9. Install the upper shroud (2) and 5 retainers.
