Reveal Molding Replacement - Front Door Window

Removal Procedure


Important: Once this molding is removed, it cannot be reused and must be replaced with a new one.


1. Lower the door window.
2. Remove the door trim panel. Refer to Trim Panel Replacement - Door (Service and Repair) .
3. Remove the door window weather-strip. Refer to Weatherstrip Replacement - Window (Door Window Weatherstrip) .
4. Remove the door upper weather-strip. Refer to Weatherstrip Replacement - Front Door Upper Auxiliary (Weatherstrip Replacement - Front Door Upper Auxiliary) .
5. Remove the outside mirror. Refer to Mirror Replacement (Door Mirror Replacement) .





Notice: Refer to Exterior Trim Emblem Removal Notice in Cautions and Notices.

6. Use a plastic, flat-bladed tool to lift or remove the front door window reveal molding (1) from the door window frame (2).
7. Remove the adhesive from the door frame by using a lint free cloth and Varnish Makers and Painters (VMP) naphtha or a (50/50 mixture) by volume of isopropyl alcohol and water to remove the adhesive.



Installation Procedure


Important: Install the new front door window reveal molding in an environment that is free from dust or other dirt that could come into contact with the sticky backing. Foreign material may cause improper adhesion.


1. Clean the area where the front door window reveal molding will be installed.
Use a lint free cloth and Varnish Makers and Painters (VMP) naphtha or a (50/50 mixture) by volume of isopropyl alcohol and water to clean the area.
2. Dry the area thoroughly.




3. Install the new front door window reveal molding (1) to the door window frame (2).
4. Install the outside mirror. Refer to Mirror Replacement (Door Mirror Replacement) .
5. Install the door upper weather-strip. Refer to Weatherstrip Replacement - Front Door Upper Auxiliary (Weatherstrip Replacement - Front Door Upper Auxiliary) .
6. Install the door window weather-strip. Refer to Weatherstrip Replacement - Window (Door Window Weatherstrip) .
7. Install the door trim panel. Refer to Trim Panel Replacement - Door (Service and Repair) .
8. Raise the door window.
