Evaporator Hose Assembly Replacement

EVAPORATOR HOSE ASSEMBLY REPLACEMENT

TOOLS REQUIRED
J 39400-A Halogen Leak Detector

REMOVAL PROCEDURE




1. Recover the refrigerant.
2. Raise the vehicle. Refer to Vehicle Lifting.
3. Remove the right wheelhouse splash shield.
4. Remove the evaporator hose assembly nut from the accumulator.
5. Remove the evaporator hose assembly from the accumulator.
6. Remove and discard the seal washer.




7. Remove the bolt holding the evaporator hose assembly to the condenser.
8. Remove the evaporator hose assembly from the condenser.
9. Remove and discard the seal washer.




10. Remove the evaporator hose assembly from the evaporator.
11. Remove and discard the seal washer.
12. Unfasten the two clips holding the evaporator hose assembly.
13. Remove the evaporator hose assembly.

INSTALLATION PROCEDURE




1. Reposition the evaporator hose assembly.
2. Fasten the two clips holding the evaporator hose assembly.
3. Install a new seal washer on evaporator hose assembly evaporator end.
4. Install the evaporator hose assembly to the evaporator.
5. Install the evaporator hose assembly nut to the evaporator.

NOTE: Refer to Fastener Notice in Service Precautions.

Tighten
Tighten the fitting nut to 24 N.m (18 lb ft).




6. Install a new seal washer on condenser end of the evaporator hose assembly.
7. Install the evaporator hose assembly to the condenser.

Tighten
Tighten the bolt to 24 N.m (18 lb ft).




8. Install a new seal washer on the accumulator end of the evaporator hose assembly.
9. Install the evaporator hose assembly to the accumulator.
10. Install the evaporator hose assembly nut to the accumulator.

Tighten
Tighten the nut to 25 N.m (18 lb ft).

11. Install the right front fender liner.
12. Lower the vehicle.
13. Recharge the refrigerant system.
14. Leak test the fittings of the repaired or reinstalled component using the J 39400-A.
