Knuckle Replacement (Disc Brakes)Removal Procedure
1. Raise the vehicle on a hoist. Refer to Vehicle Lifting.
2. Remove the tire and wheel assembly.
3. Remove the following components:
^ The lateral links to knuckle nut (5)
^ The lateral links to knuckle bolt (1)
^ The lateral links to knuckle washer (4)
4. Remove the brake rotor.
6. Disconnect the wheel speed sensor harness.
7. Remove the wheel hub assembly.
8. Remove the following components:
^ The trailing arm (5) to knuckle bolt (2)
^ The trailing arm (5) to knuckle washer (2)
^ The trailing arm (5) to knuckle bushing (4)
9. Remove the stabilizer shaft link bolt.
10. Remove the following components:
^ The strut to knuckle nuts (2)
^ The strut to knuckle bolts (5)
11. Remove the knuckle (4).
Installation Procedure
1. Install the knuckle (4) to the vehicle.
Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in Service Precautions.
2. Install the lateral links to knuckle nut (5), bolt (1), and washer (4).
^ Tighten the nuts to 120 Nm (89 ft. lbs.).
3. Install the strut to knuckle nuts (3) and bolts (5). Hand tighten the nuts (3).
4. Install the stabilizer shaft link.
5. Install the trailing arm (5) to knuckle bolt (2), washer (3)' and bushing (4).
^ Tighten the bolt to 69 Nm (51 ft. lbs.).
6. Install the wheel hub assembly.
7. Connect the parking brake cable to the parking brake lever.
8. Install the brake rotor.
^ Tighten the strut-to-knuckle nuts (5) to 120 Nm (89 ft. lbs.).
10. Install the tire and wheel assembly.
11. Lower the vehicle.
