Receiver Replacement - Digital Radio

RECEIVER REPLACEMENT - DIGITAL RADIO

REMOVAL PROCEDURE

IMPORTANT: Do NOT exchange digital radio receivers between vehicles. Exchanging digital receivers between vehicles will activate the digital radio Theftlock. "XM Theftlock" will be displayed.




1. Adjust the left rear compartment trim panel for access. Refer to Compartment Side Trim Replacement LH Rear in Trunk/Liftgate.
2. Remove the receiver bracket nuts.
3. Remove the receiver bracket from the studs.




4. Remove the digital radio receiver nuts.
5. Remove the digital radio receiver from the receiver bracket.
6. Disengage the connection position assurance (CPA) from the electrical connector.
7. Disconnect the electrical connector from the digital radio receiver.
8. Disconnect the antenna connector.
9. Remove the digital radio receiver.

INSTALLATION PROCEDURE




1. Inspect the receiver bracket for foam tape. If the bracket is not equipped, install foam tape as shown (1,2) to prevent rattles.




2. Connect the antenna connector.
3. Connect the electrical connector.
4. Install the electrical connector CPA.
5. Install the digital radio receiver to the receiver bracket.

NOTE: Refer to Fastener Notice in Service Precautions.

6. Install the digital radio receiver nuts.

Tighten
Tighten the nuts to 5 N.m (44 lb in).




7. Align the receiver and bracket assembly to the studs.
8. Install the receiver bracket nuts.

Tighten
Tighten the nuts to 4 N.m (35 lb in).

9. Install the left rear compartment trim panel.
10. Perform the setup procedure for the digital radio receiver. Refer to Digital Radio Receiver Setup.

IMPORTANT: After replacement of an XM Radio receiver, call XM Radio to deactivate the receiver that has been removed from the vehicle and activate the new XM Radio receiver.

The vehicle must be parked in view of a satellite within 24 hours after an activation call.

11. Turn the radio on, tune to the XM channel 0, and record the electronic serial number (ESN) from the radio.
The ESN will be needed for activation of the new receiver.
12. Call XM Radio at 1-800-852-XMXM (9696) to deactivate the faulty receiver and activate the new receiver.
13. Park the vehicle outside in an area with an unobstructed view of the southern sky.
14. Leave the vehicle outside with the ignition switch in the ACC (accessory) position and the radio turned ON for 30 minutes to activate XM service.
15. Once activated the radio will receive the remaining XM Radio channels.
