Scan Tool Data Definitions

SCAN TOOL DATA DEFINITIONS

Air Bag Lamp: The scan tool displays On/Off. The state of the air bag indicator as commanded by the IPC.

Antilock Brake: The scan tool displays On/Off. The state of the ABS indicator as requested by the electronic brake control module (EBCM). Antilock Lamp: The scan tool displays On/Off. The state of the ABS indicator as commanded by the IPC.

Battery Voltage: The scan tool displays 0-18 volts. The voltage measured at the battery positive voltage circuit of the IPC.

Boost: The scan tool displays 10-105 kPa (1-15 psi). The manifold absolute pressure (MAP) as determined by the PCM.

Brake Lamp: The scan tool displays On/Off. The state of the brake system indicator as commanded by the IPC.

Check Gages Lamp: The scan tool displays On/Off. The state of the CHECK GAGES indicator in the HUD as requested by the IPC.

Check Oil Level Lamp: The scan tool displays On/Off. The state of the CHECK OIL LEVEL indicator in the systems monitor as commanded by the IPC.

DIC Display Odometer Switch: The scan tool displays On/Off. The DIC monitors the display odometer button of the DIC switch. A closed switch is displayed as On.

DIC Fuel Switch: The scan tool displays On/Off. The DIC monitors the fuel button of the DIC switch. A closed switch is displayed as On.

DIC Gauge Switch: The scan tool displays On/Off. The DIC monitors the Gauge button of the DIC switch. A closed switch is displayed as On.

DIC Options Switch: The scan tool displays On/Off. The DIC monitors the Options button of the DIC switch. A closed switch is displayed as On.

DIC Reset Switch: The scan tool displays On/Off. The DIC monitors the RESET button of the DIC switch. A closed switch is displayed as On.

ECT Sensor: The scan tool displays -40 to +151°C (-40 to +304°F). The PCM monitors the voltage at the signal circuit of the engine coolant temperature sensor. The voltage is inversely proportional to the engine coolant temperature.

Engine Oil Level Switch: The scan tool displays Ok/Low. The PCM monitors the signal circuit of the engine oil level switch, where an open switch is displayed as Low (low engine oil level).

Engine Oil Life Remaining: The scan tool displays 0-100%. The PCM calculates the remaining engine oil life.

Engine Oil Pressure Sensor: The scan tool displays 0-19 volts. The PCM monitors the signal circuit of the engine oil pressure sensor.

Engine Speed: The scan tool displays 0-9999 RPM. The IPC monitors the engine speed signal circuit from the PCM.

Engine Speed: The scan tool displays 0-9999 RPM. Engine speed is computed by the PCM from the 3X reference input. It should remain close to desired idle under various engine loads with the engine idling.

English/Metric Status: The scan tool displays English/Metric. The state of the units displayed on the HUD as requested by the DIC.

Fasten Seat Belts: The scan tool displays On/Off. The state of the fasten safety belt indicator as commanded by the IPC.

Fuel Tank Level Remaining: The scan tool displays 0-100%. The PCM calculates the amount of fuel remaining in the tank based on the signal circuit of the fuel level sensor. The DIC receives a class 2 message from the PCM indicating the fuel level percent.

High Beam Lamp: The scan tool displays On/Off. The state of the high beam indicator as commanded by the IPC.

High Beam Switch: The scan tool displays On/Off. The state of the high beam indicator on the HUD as requested by the dash integration module (DIM).

Hot Coolant Lamp: The scan tool displays On/Off. The state of the hot coolant indicator as commanded by the IPC.

Ignition 1: The scan tool displays On/Off. The IPC monitors the ignition 1 voltage circuit. The scan tool displays On when there is voltage present.

Ignition Voltage: The scan tool displays 0-19 volts. The voltage measured at the ignition 3 voltage circuit of the HUD.

Julian Date of Build: The scan tool displays the 3-digit build date of the IPC.

Julian Date of Build: The scan tool displays the 3-digit build date of the DIC.

Key In Ignition: The scan tool displays Yes/No. The body control module (BCM) monitors the ignition key alarm switch, where a closed switch is displayed as Yes (key is in the ignition).

Low Brake Fluid: The scan tool displays On/Off. The IPC monitors the brake fluid level indicator switch. A closed switch is displayed as On (low brake fluid).

Low Fuel Lamp: The scan tool displays On/Off. The state of the low fuel indicator on the HUD as requested by the IPC.

Low Traction Lamp: The scan tool displays On/Off. The state of the LOW TRAC indicator as commanded by the IPC.

Left Turning Signal Switch: The scan tool displays On/Off. The IPC monitors the left turn signal supply voltage circuit, where an active turn signal toggles between On and Off.

Left Turning Signal Switch: The scan tool displays On/Off. The HUD monitors the left turn signal supply voltage circuit, where an active turn signal toggles between On and Off.

MAP Sensor: The scan tool displays 10-105 kPa (1-15 psi)/0-5 volts. The PCM monitors the signal circuit of the manifold absolute pressure (MAP) sensor. The I PC receives a class 2 message from the PCM indicating the manifold pressure in order to control the boost gauge.

MIL Lamp: The scan tool displays On/Off. The state of the indicator as controlled by the IPC.

mph / km/h Lamp: The scan tool displays On/Off. The state of the MPH (km/h export) indicator as commanded by the IPC

Park Brake Switch: The scan tool displays On/Off. The IPC monitors the park brake switch, where a closed switch is displayed as On

Park Lamp: The scan tool displays On/Off. The dash integration module (DIM) monitors the headlamp switch, where a closed switch is displayed as On (headlamp switch is in the park or head position)

Right Turning Signal Switch: The scan tool displays On/Off. The IPC monitors the right turn signal lamps supply voltage circuit, where an active turn signal toggles between On and Off.

Right Turning Signal Switch: The scan tool displays On/Off. The HUD monitors the right turn signal lamps supply voltage circuit, where an active turn signal toggles between On and Off.

Security Lamp: The scan tool displays On/Off. The state of the SECURITY indicator as commanded by the IPC.

Serial Number: The scan tool displays the 4-digit serial number.

Stability Control Off Lamp: The scan tool displays On/Off. The state of the Stability Control Off indicator as commanded by the IPC.

Upshift Lamp: The scan tool displays On/Off. The state of the Upshift indicator as commanded by the PCM.

Vehicle Speed: The scan tool displays 0-255 km/h (0-155 mph). The IPC monitors the vehicle speed signal circuit from the PCM.

Vehicle Speed: The scan tool displays 0-255 km/h (0-155 mph). The MUD monitors the vehicle speed signal circuit from the PCM.

Vehicle Speed Sensor: The scan tool displays 0-255 km/h (0-155 mph). The PCM monitors the voltage at the signal circuit of the vehicle speed sensor. The voltage is proportional to the vehicle speed.

VF Dim: The scan tool displays 0-19 volts. The HUD monitors the VF dimming signal circuit of the HUD switch.

Year Module Built: The scan tool displays the 4-digit number which corresponds to the year the IPC was manufactured.

8-Digit GM Part Number: The scan tool displays the GM part number of the IPC.

8-Digit GM Part Number: The scan tool displays the GM part number of the DIC.
