Condition
Some customers may comment on a creak in the roof.
Cause 1
This may be caused by rivets in the sun roof module frame.
Cause 2
This may be caused by sheet metal-to-sheet metal interface in the left rear corner of the sunroof opening.
Correction
1. Remove the sunroof module assembly. Refer to Sunroof Module Assembly Replacement in SI.
2. Clean the 12 rivet heads (three in each corner) with an alcohol-based cleaner and apply *LOCTITE(TM)290 to the perimeter of the rivets. Let set for 5 minutes. LOCTITE(TM) 290 is a penetrating type thread locker that will penetrate to the problem area. Refer to the illustration above.
3. Turn the module over and clean the back side of the 12 rivet heads with an alcohol-based cleaner and apply LOCTITE(TM)290 to the perimeter of the rivet. Let set for 5 minutes. Clean the excess threadlocker from all the rivet heads.
Important
Make sure that you don't bend the sheet metal so far that it causes an interference of the sunroof seal.
4. Make sure there is a 1 mm (1/32 in) by 20 mm (3/4 in) long gap between the roof reinforcement ring and the outer sheet metal in the upper left rear corner of the sun roof. Refer to the illustration above for location.
5. Install the sunroof module assembly. Refer to Sunroof Module Assembly Replacement in SI.
