Lock Replacement - Front Door
LOCK REPLACEMENT - FRONT DOORREMOVAL PROCEDURE
IMPORTANT: Do not attempt repairs in order to correct lock discrepancies. Replace the lock.
1. Remove the front door trim panel.
2. Remove the front door water deflector.
3. Open the outside handle rod to lock clip located on the door lock.
The outside handle rods should be loose from the lock.
4. Remove the lock cylinder rod from the outside door handle.
5. Remove the inside door handle.
6. Remove the screws (1, 3, 2) from door lock.
7. Remove the door lock and rods through the access hole in the door inner panel.
8. Disconnect the electrical connector (2) from the lock by pulling out on the tab (1).
9. Remove the rods from the door lock.
INSTALLATION PROCEDURE
1. Install the rods to the lock.
2. Connect the electrical connector (2) to the lock by pushing in on the tab (1).
3. Install the lock and rods through the access hole in the door inner panel.
NOTE: Refer to Fastener Notice in Service Precautions.
4. Install the screws to the door lock (1, 3, 2). Install the top screw first (1), then the bottom (2) and lastly the middle screw (3).
Tighten
Tighten the screws to 10 N.m (89 lb.in).
5. Install the lock cylinder rod to the outside door handle.
IMPORTANT:
- The outside handles have adjustable outside handle lock rods. This allows for adjustment of the amount of travel needed in order to operate the outside handle.
- When servicing a vehicle with adjustable outside handle lock rods, remove all free play between the outside handle and the lock. Also, do not operate the outside handle before these connections are made.
6. Install the outside handle rod into the clip.
7. Close the clip over the outside handle rod.
8. Install the inside door handle.
9. Inspect the door for proper operation.
10. Install the front door water deflector.
11. Install the front door trim panel.
