Front Seat Removal and Installation - Bucket

Removal Procedure

Caution: When performing service on or near the SIR components or the SIR wiring, the SIR system must be disabled. Refer to SIR Disabling and Enabling . Failure to observe the correct procedure could cause deployment of the SIR components, personal injury, or unnecessary SIR system repairs.

Important: The front seat is equipped with a seat belt pretensioner. Disable the pretensioner before you perform any work on the seat.

1. Disable the SIR system. Refer to SIR Disabling and Enabling .
2. Remove the front seat head restraint. Refer to Driver or Passenger Seat Head Restraint Replacement .
3. Position the front seat to the full forward and the full-up position.
4. Remove the front seat adjuster track covers. Refer to Front Seat Adjuster Track Finish Cover Replacement .
5. Remove the bolts from the rear of the seat adjuster.






6. Remove the nut from the front seat belt bracket, on the door side of the seat.






7. Tip the seat forward, remove the position assurance pin (2), and disconnect the pretensioner electric connector (1).
8. Disconnect the electrical body harness from the seat.
9. Tilt the seat forward and slide the seat back to disengage the adjuster hooks holding the seat to the floor pan.
10. Remove the front seat from the vehicle.

Installation Procedure






1. Install the front seat into the vehicle.
2. Engage the front seat hook attachments.
3. Tip the seat forward, connect the pretensioner electric connector (1) and insert the position assurance pin (2).
4. Connect the electrical body harness to the seat.

Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

5. Install the adjuster to floorpan bolts.

Tighten
Tighten the bolts to 42 Nm (31 lb ft).

6. Install the front seat adjuster track covers. Refer to Front Seat Adjuster Track Finish Cover Replacement .






7. Install the seat belt bracket nut.

Tighten
Tighten the nut to 42 Nm (31 lb ft).

8. Install the front seat head restraint. Refer to Driver or Passenger Seat Head Restraint Replacement .
9. Inspect the front seat for proper operation.
10. Enable the SIR system. Refer to SIR Disabling and Enabling .
