INFLATABLE RESTRAINT ROOF RAIL MODULE REPLACEMENT - RIGHT

REMOVAL PROCEDURE

CAUTION:
- IN ORDER TO PREVENT SIR DEPLOYMENT, PERSONAL INJURY, OR UNNECESSARY SIR SYSTEM REPAIRS, DO NOT STRIKE THE DOOR OR THE DOOR PILLAR IN THE AREA OF THE SIDE IMPACT SENSOR (SIS). TURN OFF THE IGNITION AND REMOVE THE KEY WHEN PERFORMING SERVICE IN THE AREA OF THE SIS.
- REFER TO SIR CAUTION IN SERVICE PRECAUTIONS.
- REFER TO SIR INFLATOR MODULE HANDLING AND STORAGE CAUTION IN SERVICE PRECAUTIONS.

1. Disable the SIR system. Refer to SIR Disabling and Enabling Zone 6.
2. Lower the headliner to access the inflator module. Refer to Headliner Replacement in Interior Trim.




3. Using a small, flat-bladed tool or your fingernails, pull out the connector positive assurance (1) on the inflator harness connector (2).




4. Disconnect the harness connector (2) from the inflator (3).
5. Remove the headliner electrical harness push-in connector from the inflator bracket.
6. Remove the Torx(R) screws (1) from the roof rail module.




7. Remove the push-in retainer (2) from the inflator bracket (1).
8. Remove the Torx(R) screw (3) from the inflator bracket.
9. Remove the roof rail module from the vehicle.

INSTALLATION PROCEDURE




1. Remove any dirt, grease, or other impurities from the mounting surface.

CAUTION: DO NOT STRIKE OR BIT THE INFLATABLE RESTRAINT SIDE IMPACT SENSOR (SIS). BEFORE APPLYING POWER TO THE SIS MAKE SURE THAT IT IS SECURELY FASTENED. FAILURE TO OBSERVE THE CORRECT INSTALLATION PROCEDURES COULD CAUSE SIR DEPLOYMENT, PERSONAL INJURY, OR UNNECESSARY SIR SYSTEM REPAIRS.

NOTE: Refer to Fastener Notice in Service Precautions.

2. Install the inflator bracket Torx(R) screw (3).

Tighten
Tighten the screw to 10 N.m (89 lb in).

3. Install the inflator bracket push-in retainer (2).

IMPORTANT: Make certain the roof rail module is not twisted when installed.




4. Position the roof rail module over the sail panel bracket (4).

IMPORTANT: The sunroof drainage hoses must be routed outboard of the roof rail module.

5. Install the inflatable restraint roof rail module Torx(R) screws (1).

Tighten
Tighten the screws to 10 N.m (89 lb in).

6. Install the harness connector (2) to the inflator (3).
7. Install the headliner electrical harness retainer to the inflator bracket.
8. Install the headliner.
9. Enable the SIR system. Refer to SIR Disabling and Enabling Zone 6.
10. Fully deploy the module before disposal. If the module was replaced under warranty, fully deploy and dispose of the module after the required retention period. Refer to Inflator Module Handling and Scrapping.
