SIR DISABLING AND ENABLING ZONE 4DISABLING ZONE 4
1. Turn the steering wheel so that the vehicle's wheels are pointing straight ahead.
2. Turn the ignition switch to the OFF position.
IMPORTANT: With the SIR fuse removed and the ignition switch in the ON position, the AIR BAG warning indicator illuminates. This is normal operation, and does not indicate an SIR system malfunction.
3. Locate and remove the AM2 Fuse from the junction block (1), which is located near the base of the steering column.
4. Disconnect the battery negative cable.
5. Release the inflatable restraint steering wheel module coil connector locking mechanism.
6. Disconnect the inflatable restraint steering wheel module coil connector C3 (1).
7. Remove the IP compartment (2)
8. Release then unlock the IP module connector (1).
9. Disconnect the IP module pigtail.
10. Release and unlock the driver and passenger seat module connectors (1).
11. Disconnect the driver and passenger seat modules.
ENABLING ZONE 4
1. Remove the key from the ignition switch.
2. Install the yellow 2-way connectors to the driver and passenger seat modules (1).
3. Connect the connectors and lock the connectors with the connector lock levers.
4. Install the yellow 2-way connector to the inflatable restraint IP module pigtail (1).
Connect the connector and lock the connector with the connector lock lever.
5. Install the IP compartment (2).
6. Install the yellow 2-way connector (1) for the inflatable restraint steering wheel module coil.
Connect the connector and lock the connector with the connector lock lever.
7. Install the lower steering column trim cover.
8. Connect the battery negative cable
9. Install the AM2 Fuse into the junction block (1).
10. Use caution while reaching in and turn the ignition switch to the ON position.
11. The AIR BAG indicator will flash then turn OFF.
12. Perform the SIR Diagnostic System Check if the AIR BAG warning indicator does not operate as described. Refer to Diagnostic System Check - Restraint Systems.
