Latch Replacement - Front Door

Removal Procedure




1. Place window in the full up position.
2. Remove the door trim panel.
3. Remove the door module.
4. Remove the inside door handle.
5. Remove the water deflector.
6. Disconnect the electrical connectors.




7. Disconnect the lock cylinder rod from the door latch.




8. Disconnect the outside door handle rod (1) from the door latch by opening the clip (2).




9. Remove the door latch fasteners.
10. Remove the door latch from the door with the inside door handle and lock rods attached.
11. Remove the handle and lock rods from the door latch.

Installation Procedure




1. Install the inside door handle latch and lock rods to door latch.
2. Install the door latch into the door.

Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in Service Precautions.

3. Install the door latch fasteners.

Tighten the fasteners in sequence to 10 N.m (89 lb in).

1. Start the upper fastener, (do not drive to torque).
2. Drive the lower fastener to torque.
3. Drive the outboard fastener to torque
4. Drive the upper fastener to torque.




4. Connect the outside door handle rod to the latch.

1. Insert the rod (1) into the clip (2) on the door latch assembly.
2. Close the clip.




5. Snap the lock cylinder rod into the door latch.
6. Install the inside door handle.
7. Install the electrical connectors.

Important: Check for the proper operation of the door handles and lock cylinder before installing the water deflector and the door trim panel.


8. Install the water deflector.
9. Install the door module.
10. Install the door trim panel.
