Oil Pan Installation

EN 46109 Engine Front Cover Installation Guide Pins
1. Install the oil level switch (1). Tighten the oil level switch (1) to 20 N.m (15 lb ft).
Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in Cautions and Notices.
2. In order to guide the oil pan into position and prevent the smearing of the RTV sealant install one of the M8 EN 46109 guide pins at each side of the engine block into the oil pan bolt holes in the lower crankcase.
3. Completely fill and slightly overfill the oil pan seal groove (1) with a continuous bead of RTV sealant GM P/N 12378521, (Canadian P/N 88901148), or equivalent.
4. Ensure the RTV sealant GM P/N 12378521, (Canadian P/N 88901148), or equivalent bead is higher (1) than the oil pan rail surface by 3 mm (0.118 in).
5. Position the oil pan onto the oil distribution manifold plate.
6. Loosely install a few of the oil pan bolts.
7. Remove the M8 EN 46109 guide pins.
8. Install the remaining oil pan bolts and tighten all the oil pan bolts in the sequence shown. Tighten in sequence the oil pan bolts to 10 N.m (89 lb in).
9. Install the oil drain plug. Tighten the oil drain plug to 20 N.m (15 lb ft).
10. Rotate the engine so the engine valley is facing upward.
