Carpet Replacement

Removal Procedure

1. Remove the rear seat cushion. Refer to Seat Cushion Replacement - Rear (Seat Cushion Replacement - Rear) in Seats.
2. Remove the floor mats.
3. Remove the right and left door sill plates. Refer to Door Sill Plate Replacement (Service and Repair) .
4. Remove the right and left hinge pillar trim panels. Refer to Trim Replacement - Hinge Pillar (Trim Replacement - Hinge Pillar) .
5. Remove the right and left quarter trim panels. Refer to Trim Panel Replacement - Rear Quarter (Service and Repair) .
6. Remove the hinge pillar trim panel. Refer to Trim Replacement - Hinge Pillar (Trim Replacement - Hinge Pillar) .
7. Remove the driver's and passenger front seats. Refer to Seat Replacement - Front Bucket (Seat Replacement - Front Bucket) in Seats.
8. Remove the left knee bolster. Refer to Knee Bolster Replacement - Left (Knee Bolster Replacement - Left) in Instrument Panel, Gages, and Console.
9. Remove the left closeout/insulator panel. Refer to Closeout/Insulator Panel Replacement - Left (Service and Repair) in Instrument Panel, Gages, and Console.
10. Remove the front floor console. Refer to Console Replacement - Front Floor (Console Replacement - Front Floor) in Instrument Panel, Gages, and Console.
11. On vehicles with automatic transmission, remove the floor shift control assembly. Refer to Floor Shift Control Replacement in Automatic Transmission - 4L60-E/4L65-E.
12. On vehicles with manual transmission, remove the shift control assembly. Refer to Shift Control Assembly Replacement in Manual Transmission - Tremec-6 Speed.

Important: To assist in the removal and installation of the front floor carpet, the carpet has been perforated from the front edge through the center of the evaporator drain cut out, to the forward edge of the lower radio bracket.






13. Remove 2 retaining clips (1) from the front floor carpet assembly (2).
14. Remove 2 wire harness clips on the shift control assembly.
15. Disconnect the necessary console electrical connectors.




16. From inside the left foot-well, grab the edge of the hole in the front floor carpet assembly around the evaporator drain hose (1) and tear the perforated line (2) by pulling the carpet away from the transmission tunnel.
17. Slide the remaining flap of carpet out from under the heating, ventilation and air conditioning (HVAC) unit (3) and into the right hand foot-well.
18. Remove the carpet and insulator assembly from the vehicle.



Installation Procedure





1. If a new carpet is being installed, cut the carpet along the perforated line that runs from the forward edge of the carpet, through the evaporator drain hose (1) cutout, to the forward edge of the lower radio bracket cutout.
2. Install the carpet and insulator assembly into the vehicle.
3. Make sure that all of the cutouts in the carpet are correctly aligned.




4. To secure the carpet in place, install 2 carpet retaining clips (1) and the front seat belt lower attaching bolts.
5. Connect the necessary console electrical connectors.
6. On vehicles with manual transmission, install the shift control assembly. Refer to Shift Control Assembly Replacement in Manual Transmission - Tremec-6 Speed
7. On vehicles with automatic transmission, install the floor shift control assembly. Refer to Floor Shift Control Replacement in Automatic Transmission - 4L40-E/4L65-E.
8. Connect 2 wire harness clips on the shift control assembly.
9. Install the front floor console. Refer to Console Replacement - Front Floor (Console Replacement - Front Floor) In Instrument Panel, Gages, and Console.
10. Install the left closeout/insulator panel. Refer to Closeout/Insulator Panel Replacement - Left (Service and Repair) in Instrument Panel, Gages, and Console.
11. Install the left knee bolster. Refer to Knee Bolster Replacement - Left (Knee Bolster Replacement - Left) in Instrument Panel, Gages, and Console.




12. Install the park brake lever cover (1).

1. Slide the cover downward onto the park brake lever.
2. Close the park brake lever cover (1).

13. Install the driver's and passenger front seats. Refer to Seat Replacement - Front Bucket (Seat Replacement - Front Bucket) in Seats.
14. Install the right and left quarter trim panels. Refer to Trim Panel Replacement - Rear Quarter (Service and Repair) .
15. Install the right and left hinge pillar trim panels. Refer to Trim Replacement - Hinge Pillar (Trim Replacement - Hinge Pillar) .
16. Install the right and left door sill plates. Refer to Door Sill Plate Replacement (Service and Repair) .




17. Push the seat track covers (1) together.
18. Position the seat track covers (1) to the vehicle, then clip into place.
19. Install the rear seat cushion. Refer to Seat Cushion Replacement - Rear (Seat Cushion Replacement - Rear) in Seats.
