Catalytic Converter Replacement (Left Side)

Removal Procedure





1. Caution: Refer to Exhaust Service Caution in Service Precautions.

Caution: Refer to Battery Disconnect Caution in Service Precautions.

Disconnect the negative battery cable.
2. Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to Vehicle Lifting.
3. Remove the oxygen sensors.
4. Remove the catalytic converter to exhaust manifold bolts.
5. Remove the catalytic converter to muffler flange bolts (1).
6. Support the right side catalytic converter assembly with a jackstand.
7. Separate the catalytic converter and muffler assemblies.
8. Remove the catalytic converter assembly from the vehicle.

Installation Procedure





1. Position the catalytic converter assembly to the vehicle.

2. Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in Service Precautions.

Install the catalytic converter to exhaust manifold flange retaining nuts (1).
Tighten the catalytic converter to exhaust manifold flange bolts to 25 Nm (18 ft. lbs.).
3. Install the catalytic converter to muffler flange bolts (1).
Tighten the catalytic converter to muffler flange bolts to 40 Nm (30 ft. lbs.).
4. Remove the jackstand supporting the right side catalytic converter assembly.
5. Install the oxygen sensors.
6. Lower the vehicle.

7. Caution: Refer to Exhaust Service Caution in Service Precautions.

Caution: Refer to Battery Disconnect Caution in Service Precautions.

Connect the negative battery cable.
