Wiper Motor: Service and Repair
WIPER MOTOR REPLACEMENT
REMOVAL PROCEDURE
1. Remove the wiper arm assemblies.
2. Remove the air inlet grille panel.
3. Squeeze the locking tab and disconnect the main wiper motor harness connector (4) from the wiring harness (5).
4. Remove the four bolts (1) securing the wiper transmission (2) to the air inlet chamber.
5. Remove the bolt (8) securing the wiper motor ground strap (6).
IMPORTANT: The bolt securing the wiper motor ground strap is secured to the strap by a spacer and cannot be separated.
6. Remove the wiper transmission (2) from the vehicle.
7. Remove the nut (10) securing the wiper transmission (2) to the wiper motor pivot (7).
8. Remove the three bolts (11) securing the wiper motor (3) to the wiper transmission bracket (9).
9. Remove the wiper motor (3) from the wiper transmission bracket (9).
INSTALLATION PROCEDURE
1. Position the wiper motor (3) to the wiper transmission bracket (9).
2. Install the three bolts (11) to the wiper motor (3).
NOTE: Refer to Fastener Notice in Service Precautions.
Tighten the bolts to 8 N.m (71 lb in).
3. Position the wiper transmission (2) to the wiper motor pivot (7).
4. Install the nut (10) securing the wiper transmission (2) to the wiper motor pivot (7).
Tighten the nut to 18 N.m (13 lb ft).
5. Position the wiper transmission (2) to the vehicle.
6. Install the bolt (8) securing the wiper motor ground strap (6).
Tighten the bolt to 5 N.m (44 lb in).
7. Install the four bolts (3) to the wiper transmission (2).
Tighten the four bolts to 5 N.m (44 lb in).
8. Connect the wiper motor harness connector (4) to the wiring harness connector (5).
9. Install the air inlet grille panel.
10. Install the wiper arm assemblies.
11. Operate the windshield wipers and inspect for proper operation.
