Tools Required
J 38778 Door Trim Pad and Garnish Clip Remover
Removal Procedure
1. Remove the front seats. Refer toSeat Replacement - Front Bucket in Seats.
2. Remove the front floor console, if equipped. Refer toConsole Replacement - Front Floor in Instrument Panel, Gages and Console.
3. Remove the rear seat cushion. Refer toSeat Cushion Replacement - Rear in Seats.
4. Remove the carpet retainers. Refer toCarpet Retainer Replacement - Front .
5. Remove the lower trim panel from the center pillar. Refer toTrim Panel Replacement - Lower Center Pillar .
6. Remove the quarter lower trim. Refer toTrim Panel Replacement - Rear Quarter Lower .
7. UsingJ 38778 remove the push-in retainers which position the carpet on top of the rocker panels.
8. Remove the carpet from the vehicle.
Installation Procedure
Caution: In order to avoid personal injury or vehicle damage when you repair or replace the carpet, use the same thickness and material size as the original installation. Always return the carpet to the original location.
1. Position the carpet in the vehicle. Reach under the carpet and feed the following connectors through the slits in the carpet where required:
* The power seat adjusters
* The seat belt pretensioner connector
* The seat belt warning wire connector
2. Install the push-in retainers which hold the carpet on top of the rocker panels.
3. Carefully insert the carpet underneath the pedals.
4. Install the quarter lower trim. Refer toTrim Panel Replacement - Rear Quarter Lower .
5. Install the lower trim panel to the center pillar. Refer toTrim Panel Replacement - Lower Center Pillar .
6. Install the carpet retainers. Refer toCarpet Retainer Replacement - Front .
7. Install the rear seat cushion. Refer toSeat Cushion Replacement - Rear in Seats.
8. Install the front floor console, if equipped. Refer toConsole Replacement - Front Floor in Instrument Panel, Gages and Console.
9. Install the front seats. Refer toSeat Replacement - Front Bucket in Seats.
