POWER STEERING GEAR REPLACEMENT (AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION)

REMOVAL PROCEDURE
1. Raise the vehicle on a hoist. Refer to Vehicle Lifting.
2. Remove the lower pinch bolt from the intermediate shaft.
3. Remove the front suspension crossmember.
4. Remove the power steering hoses from the power steering gear.







5. Remove the power steering gear mounting bolts (3).
6. Remove the power steering gear (1) from the front suspension crossmember (2).



INSTALLATION PROCEDURE









1. Install the power steering gear (1) to the front suspension crossmember (2).
2. Install the power steering hoses to the power steering gear.
3. Install the power steering gear mounting bolts (3)

NOTE: Refer to Fastener Notice in Service Precautions.



Tighten
Tighten the bolts to 120 N.m (89 lb ft).

4. Install the front suspension crossmember.
5. Install the lower pinch bolt to the intermediate shaft.
6. Lower the vehicle.
7. Bleed the power steering system. Refer to Bleeding the Power Steering System.
8. Align the front wheels. Refer to in Measuring Wheel Alignment in Wheel Alignment.
