Sunroof Module Assembly Replacement (With RPO Code C3Y)
SUNROOF MODULE ASSEMBLY REPLACEMENT (WITH RPO CODE C3Y)
REMOVAL PROCEDURE
1. Cycle the sunshade to the fully open position.
IMPORTANT: A new sunroof module does not include the windows, motors, sunshade, or the finishing lace as components. Install the old components to the new sunroof module.
2. Remove the front sunroof window.
3. Remove the 2nd or 3rd sunroof window.
4. Remove the rear sunroof window.
5. Remove the sunroof finishing lace.
6. Cycle the sunshade to the fully closed position.
7. Remove the headliner.
8. Disconnect the electrical connectors from the motors.
9. Disconnect the front and rear drain hoses from the drain spigots located in each corner.
10. Remove the bolts (2) in the rear of the sunroof module first, then the bolts (1).The shade must be full closed position to expose the bolts (1).
11. Remove the bolts (1) that secure the sunroof module to the roof ring.
IMPORTANT: DO NOT remove the four corner screws until last. DO NOT remove the nut just the TORX(TM) bit screws (1), the nut is used for height adjustment.
12. Power the sunshade to the full forward position.
13. Remove the four corner screws (1), with the aid of an assistant.
14. Lower and remove the sunroof module through the roof opening.
15. Remove the sunshade.
IMPORTANT: Perform the remaining steps on the bench.
16. Remove the sunroof module motor.
17. Remove the sunroof sunshade motor.
18. Remove the sunroof window seal from the sunroof module.
INSTALLATION PROCEDURE
1. Hold the sunshade up on end to expose the set spring cam hole and turn the cam 14 revolutions in the counterclockwise position to set.
IMPORTANT: A new sunshade service part comes pre-loaded with a pin tool holding spring tension on the sunshade. If the sunshade spring releases, it will be necessary to rewind it and reinstall the pin tool. Following installation, retain the pin tool for future applications.
2. Insert the pin tool, retained from a previous sunshade replacement, in the cam hole to lock in place.
3. Install the sunroof window seal to the sunroof module.
4. Install the sunroof sunshade motor.
5. Install the sunroof module motor.
6. Install the sunshade.
7. Install the sunroof module through the roof opening.
8. Install the corner screws (1), with the aid of an assistant.
NOTE: Refer to Fastener Notice in Service Precautions.
IMPORTANT: Do NOT remove the four corner screws until last. Do NOT remove the nut just the TORX(TM) bit screws (1), the nut is used for height adjustment.
Tighten the bolts to 10 N.m (89 lb in).
9. Install the bolts (1) that secure the sunroof module to the roof ring.
Tighten the bolts to 10 N.m (89 lb in).
10. Install the bolts (2) in the rear of the sunroof module first, then install bolts (1).
IMPORTANT: The shade must be closed to expose the bolts (1) holes.
Tighten the bolts to 10 N.m (89 lb in).
11. Connect the front and rear sunroof drain hoses from the drain spigot located in each corner.
12. Connect the electrical connectors to the motors.
13. Install the headliner.
14. Install the sunroof finishing lace.
15. Cycle the sunroof window to the fully vent position.
16. Install the front sunroof window.
17. Install the 2nd or 3rd sunroof window.
18. Install the rear sunroof window.
19. Sunroof module adjustment. Refer to Sunroof Module Adjustment.
20. Perform the Initialization/Teach procedure. Refer to Sunroof Motor/Actuator Initialization/Teach Process (Panoramic) Sunroof Motor/Actuator Initialization/Teach Process (New Motor) Sunroof Motor/Actuator Initialization/Teach Process (Existing Motor).
21. Inspect the sunroof for proper operation.
22. Close the sunshade.
