55. Balance Shaft Installation

Balance Shaft Installation
Tools Required
^ J43650 Balance Shaft Bushing Remover/Installer





1. Install the balance shaft bushing using the J43650.





2. Seat the balance shaft bushing into the bore using the J43650 and a wrench.
3. When the J43650 is fully seated in the engine block remove it with a wrench.





4. Important: If the balance shafts are not properly timed to the engine, the engine may vibrate or make noise.

Install the balance shaft assemblies to the engine using the following steps:
Place the number one piston at TDC.
5. Lubricate the balance shaft lobes with engine oil.
6. Install the balance shafts into their bores.

7. Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in Service Precautions.

Install the balance shaft retaining bolts.
Tighten the balance shaft retaining bolts to 10 Nm (89 inch lbs.).
