DTC B3976
CIRCUIT DESCRIPTION
When the theft deterrent module (TDM) is in the learn coded key mode or learn more keys mode and the crypt valet mode is enabled, the TDM checks the PASS-Key III+ (PK3+) key to insure it has been configured as a master key or a valet key.
DTC DESCRIPTOR
This diagnostic procedure supports the following DTC:
DTC B3976 Unconfigured Transponder

CONDITIONS FOR RUNNING THE DTC
- The ignition switch is in the ACCESSORY or RUN position.
- The TDM is in the learn coded key mode or learn more keys mode.
- The crypt valet mode is enabled in the TDM.
CONDITIONS FOR SETTING THE DTC
The TDM has determined that the PK3+ key has not been configured as a master key or a valet key.
ACTION TAKEN WHEN THE DTC SETS
- The vehicle will not start.
- The TDM sends a message via the serial data circuit to the body control module (BCM) to illuminate the SECURITY indicator.
CONDITIONS FOR CLEARING THE MIL/DTC
- The TDM clears the current DTC when the condition for setting is not present and the ignition is cycled from OFF to ON.
- The TDM clears the history status of the DTC after 100 fault-free ignition cycles.
- The DTC can be cleared by using a scan tool.

The numbers below refer to the step numbers on the diagnostic table.
2. This step verifies the conditions for setting DTC B3055 or B3060 are not current.
3. The key must have the proper mechanical cut and the TDM must learn the transponder value.
