Installation Procedure

Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

Important: Do not reuse the position sensor bolt. Always use a new bolt when installing a brake pedal position sensor.

1. Install the brake pedal position sensor and the bolt to the brake pedal bracket.

Tighten
Tighten the bolt to 2 Nm (18 lb in).

2. Install the electrical connector to the position sensor.
3. Install the steering wheel stub shaft to the steering column. Refer to Intermediate Steering Shaft Replacement in Steering Wheel and Column Service and Repair.
4. Install the closeout panel. Refer to Instrument Panel Insulator Panel Replacement - Left Side in Instrument Panel, Gauge., and Console Service and Repair.
5. Calibrate the position sensor. Refer to Brake Pedal Position Sensor Calibration Service and Repair.
