72. Camshaft Installation

Camshaft Installation





1. Coat the camshaft journals with clean engine oil.
2. Coat the camshaft lobes with prelube GM P/N 12345501 (Canadian P/N 992704) or the equivalent.
3. Install the camshaft using the following procedure:
1. Install the camshaft sprocket bolt into the camshaft. Tighten finger tight only.
2. Carefully rotate the camshaft while installing the camshaft into the camshaft bearings.





4. Install the camshaft thrust plate.

5. Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in Service Precautions.

Install the camshaft thrust plate screws.
Tighten the camshaft thrust plate screws to 10 Nm (89 inch lbs.).





6. Install the camshaft position sensor.
7. Install the camshaft position sensor bolt.
Tighten the camshaft position sensor bolt to 10 Nm (89 inch lbs.).
