Hood Hinge: Service and Repair



Hood Hinge Replacement

Removal Procedure

Caution: When a hood hold open device is being removed or installed, provide alternate support to avoid the possibility of damage to the vehicle or personal injury.


1. Remove the hood. Refer to Hood Replacement (Without Hood Scoops) ()Hood Replacement (With Hood Scoops) () .
2. Remove the air inlet grille panel. Refer to Air Inlet Grille Panel Replacement (Service and Repair) in Body Front End.




3. Remove the center bolt (4) and remove the upper hinge (1) from the lower hinge (2), if necessary.
4. Remove the bolts (3) from the lower hood hinge (2).
5. Remove the lower hood hinge (2) from the vehicle.



Installation Procedure





1. Install the lower hood hinge (2) to the vehicle.

Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in Cautions and Notices.

2. Install the bolts (3) to the lower hood hinge (2).

Tighten the lower hood hinge bolts to 18 N.m (13 lb ft).

3. Install the upper hood hinge (1) to the lower hood hinge (2), if removed.
4. Install the center bolt (4) to the lower hood hinge (2) and upper hood hinge (1), if removed.

Tighten the center bolt to 18 N.m (13 lb ft).

5. Install the air inlet grille panel. Refer to Hood Replacement (Without Hood Scoops) ()Hood Replacement (With Hood Scoops) () in Body Front End.
6. Install the hood. Refer to Hood Replacement (Without Hood Scoops) ()Hood Replacement (With Hood Scoops) () .
7. Adjust the hood as required. Refer to Hood Adjustment (Adjustments) .
