Hood Latch Striker Replacement

Removal Procedure





1. Open the hood.
2. Loosen the hood latch striker nut (3).
3. Using a flat-bladed tool, unscrew the hood latch striker bolt (6) ensuring the washer (2), hood pop-up spring (4) and the hood pop-up spring retainer (5) remain on the hood latch striker bolt (6), and remove from hood (1).
4. Secure the hood latch striker nut (3) in a vise and disassemble components, if necessary.



Installation Procedure





1. Secure the hood latch striker nut (3) in a vise and reassemble components, if removed.
2. Install the hood latch striker bolt (6) and it's components to the hood (1).




3. Tighten the hood latch striker bolt to achieve a nominal length of 50 mm (2 in).
Important: Lubricate the end of the hood latch striker bolt with lubricant aerosol GM P/N 12346293, or equivalent.



4. Close the hood by dropping from a height of approximately 300 mm (12 in).
Important: Do not push the hood closed, as damage to the panel surface may occur. If the hood does not close on the first attempt, try again from a slightly greater height.



5. Verify the height difference between the front of the hood and the fenders.





Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in Cautions and Notices.


Important: As required, also set the hood adjust bumpers to align the hood height.


6. Open the hood and adjust the hood latch striker assembly length by loosening and holding the nut (3) while rotating the striker bolt (6) with a flat-bladed tool.

Tighten the hood latch striker nut to 25 N.m (18 lb ft).

7. Close the hood.
